Overview

As an Inclusion and Diversity Manager in a Scotch Whisky business you will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that support the company's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, welcoming all people, regardless of their personal, physical or social characteristics. You will work closely with the company's senior leadership team to create a comprehensive strategy for promoting diversity and inclusion across all areas of the business, including hiring practices, training and development programs, and employee engagement initiatives.

Main duties and responsibilities

The role of Inclusion and Diversity Manager is an exciting and challenging one, and offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the culture of the organization and the wider industry. Typical responsibilities include:Top of FormBottom of Form

  • Review and analyse company policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Development and implementation of an inclusion and diversity strategy.
  • Design company policies and guidelines that reinforce diversity in the workplace, whilst addressing all kinds of harassment and protecting minority groups and women.
  • Working with HR and hiring managers to develop and implement best practices for attracting and hiring diverse talent. Design workshops and training on how to select, manage, evaluate, address and retain diverse employees. Coach and upskill managers and employees on the value of diversity.
  • Manage and coordinate diversity and inclusion initiatives across the organization, including employee resource groups, mentoring programs, and diversity training.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with external organizations to promote diversity and inclusion in the industry.
  • Revise and update all communication on the company website, social media pages, job descriptions and internal documents to ensure they use non-discriminatory language.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the progress of diversity and inclusion initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage regulatory compliance relating to equality and diversity. Develop and implement training and development programs to promote awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion issues.
  • Keep abreast of developments nationally and internationally in equality, diversity and inclusion issues and apply this knowledge to implement and deliver new ideas with innovation, creativity, and best practice in mind.
  • Develop a set of diversity metrics to understand and track performance in the organisation. Measure and forecast KPIs to track targets and measure impact.
  • Own and be responsible for all types of harassment claims, whilst creating positive action interventions to under-represented groups.
  • Celebrating diversity through organised events and by representing the organisation.

To be successful in the role of Inclusion and Diversity Manager you should have You should have a strong understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and a demonstrated ability to lead and implement initiatives that promote a culture of inclusivity. You will need to be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a passion for creating positive change within the organisation. Additionally, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a diversity and inclusion role, preferably within the Scotch Whisky industry or another highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience designing company policies like anti-discrimination and equal employer opportunity.
  • A strong knowledge of employee and human rights legislation, diversity and inclusion best practices and trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage initiatives across the organisation, including experience in project management, change management, and influencing stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and insights to inform diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and external partners, including a proven track record of building and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • A passion for promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, with a strong commitment to creating an inclusive culture where all employees feel valued, respected, and supported.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as human resources, diversity and inclusion, or organisational development
