Brand Ambassador
Overview

A Brand Ambassador works as the public face of a whisky company or brand.

Role Description

A Brand Ambassador works as the public face of a whisky company or brand. Their primary duties include creating awareness for a company’s service or product, interacting with customers to listen to their feedback and developing new ways to market products.

 What would you be doing?

Brand Ambassadors must embody the company or brand in demeanour, personality and appearance. They must maintain a positive image of the brand at all times. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and merchants that sell the company’s products or services
  • Working with the company’s marketing department to learn and implement the company’s marketing strategy at events
  • Understanding the company’s vision, mission, goals, products and services to represent the whisky brand’s voice and personality at various events
  • Posting about a service or product on the various social media platforms, chat groups and message boards to drive brand awareness and attract new customers
  • Posting videos and reviews about the company’s product or service and inviting friends to events via social networking sites
  • Sharing ideas with supervisors about new ways to promote the whisky brand
  • Tracking media campaigns, metrics and customer preferences
  • Monitoring feedback from customers and escalating complaints to the company’s marketing department
  • Measuring the conversion rates and other metrics for ongoing campaigns and making adjustments as necessary

 What is expected from you?

Companies usually hire Brand Ambassadors who have previous experience in promotions, sampling, retail, customer service and driving sales. Some employers prefer candidates who have several years of experience posting videos of themselves using products on various social networking sites or writing reviews on products or services on their blogs. An extensive public presence or social media following is beneficial.

What about the pay?

BAs can earn between £20,000 and £40,000 per year although this varies from location to location and the size of your employer. It also depends on your experience and what involves the role for the specific field.

What qualifications do I need to get?

There’s no degree required for a Brand Ambassador position, but many companies prefer candidates who have qualifications in the field of marketing, communications or other liberal arts. Companies usually state if they prefer candidates with an HND or a bachelor’s degree.

What about further training?

companies usually require candidates to complete company training, which may include understanding the company’s history and mission statement and the information about the products or services they will be presenting to the public.

Anything else I might need to know?

You will need to be a people person, making your brand shine at all times but without selling it. You are the face of the brand but not a sales person. A Brand Ambassador is a very different role whether you work for clothing, food, or wine and spirits. The last one may include promotion of the products in bars or hotels, masterclasses, etc.
