Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered.  In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

The Manufacturing Dry & Finished Goods team are based at our site in Dumbarton and are responsible for the transport, receipt, storage and processing of all incoming Dry Goods and outgoing Finished Goods.

Your unique contribution

The Warehousing Team Leader will be responsible for supporting and leading a team to ensure execution of the despatch plan, inventory control and stock management in line with bottling on a daily basis whilst driving improvement to the safety culture.

This role is directly operational and will work a recognised shift pattern.

You will have four main areas of responsibility:

  • People Leadership – to develop and support your team through annual performance and development processes and agreed action or development plans.
  • Operational Leadership – you will be responsible for ensuring the daily execution of the despatch plan, inventory control and stock management in line with production plans and that appropriate action is taken when the plan is deviated from or at risk.  You will ensure all stock movements and despatches are in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration – you will conduct Shift Handovers alongside opposite shift team leaders in order to have an effective transition of performance data and general information required between shifts.  You will also lead shift-based Tier 1 Team Meetings to a defined standard code of conduct and agenda and represent the Warehousing function with effective data and background at the Tier 2 Daily Operations Review (DOR) meeting.
  • Problem Solving – to drive Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) through routine RCPS Investigations, Actions & Weekly Review meetings.  You will also lead shift-based Short Interval Control (SIC) meetings to drive routine recovery towards standard performance targets through SMART actions with the Tier 1 team.

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you’ll collaborate with the wider Manufacturing team, including Continuous Improvement, Customer Service, Bottling, Quality, Health and Safety and New Product Development as well as other functions such as Finance and HR.

Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:

  • Have experience in a similar role within an operational / manufacturing environment, with knowledge of HMRC and regulatory requirements.
  • Have experience in working with LEAN Manufacturing principles and the use of Visual Performance Management tools.
  • Have Management or Leadership Training / Qualifications (for example recognised Leadership Development qualifications, Interpersonal Skills, Conflict Management, etc.)
  • Are able to work shifts and Weekends
