Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered.  In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

Our Production function encompasses everything from the distilling of our products, through to Filling, Maturation, Warehousing, and the final Draining & Vatting.

The Project Engineering team are responsible for designing and implementing capital investment projects that support business objectives for production growth, carbon reduction, safety, efficiency, and compliance.

 

Your unique contribution

The role of the Senior Project and Development Engineer to oversee the accurate interpretation of client requirements by the designer, utilizing extensive experience in complex scope and contract management and will provide Project Engineering support to production management teams on commissioning, performance, efficiency, and product quality in order to meet business needs and customer expectations.

You will have four main areas of responsibility:

  • Project Management – to provide engineering project management from initial design through to commissioning and project completion and to manage Installation Qualification.  You will also develop major CAPEX projects with the central engineering department team.
  • Stakeholder Management – to manage and control internal and external providers of engineering support, ensuring compliance with safety, engineering change control and technical documentation, including completion certifications and handover.  You will act as Chivas Brothers liaison with the construction team on site and be responsible for receiving and distributing Early Warnings issued by the Construction Manager and responding appropriately.
  • Engineering Improvements – to develop engineering processes and procedures towards best practice and continually review and identify areas for improving equipment capacity and availability.  You will also investigate and develop ways of improving engineering processes (both business related, and process related).
  • Technical Support – to provide guidance and technical support to the technician and operational teams, developing skills through delivery of training programmes.  You will also ensure the provision and maintenance of all technical documentation and set safety and quality standards on site ensuring compliance and exhibiting the correct behaviours.

 

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you will manage multi-disciplinary teams during projects.  You will also collaborate with the wider Engineering team as well as the wider Production teams and other functions such as Finance.

Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and suppliers, to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.

 

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:

  • Have a degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline with a mechanical or process bias, along with previous experience in a technical function, and in project engineering predominately across a range of projects, in a relevant industry.
  • Have a proven track record in project engineering and leading multi-discipline engineering teams, with extensive experience in leading ‘hands on’ process plant commissioning.
  • Are computer literate and able to operate business process systems to required levels.
  • Are experienced in engineering best practice relevant to continuous process operations and have an understanding of continuous improvement.
  • Hold a full UK driving license
