We also have offices in Scotland and various distilleries and production sites across the UK from Plymouth to London to Speyside.

Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered.  In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

The Occupational Health (OH) team sit within Human Resources department and are a team of 7 who support the business by delivering an effective Occupational Health Service.  The team provide expert advice to managers and employees regarding individuals’ fitness to work/return to work.

Your unique contribution

The Occupational Health Specialist is responsible for the delivery of an effective Occupational Health Service across our organisation that meets and exceeds the expectations of its customers by adopting the latest initiatives in business health practice and developing preventative policy to add value and significantly influence the performance of the business.

You will have four main areas of responsibility:

  • Occupational Health Service – to support the day-to-day management and service delivery across agreed sites and develop influential relationships across the company to identify, promote and deliver OH data and services which enable improved health performance and organisational effectiveness. This will include sickness absence management and a comprehensive health surveillance programme. You will also be involved in appropriate initiatives and company health promotion activities and be responsible for the maintenance of appropriate employee medical files, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Employee Support – to provide general OH support and advice in line with business strategy to management, union representatives and employees, as well as being involved in the sickness absence management process and advising on long term absence issues, return to work plans and Equality Act advice.  You will conduct both pre-placement and in employment screening as appropriate and provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on ways of promoting a healthy working environment.
  • Training – to conduct and educate key personnel on workplace health risk assessments.
  • Continuous Improvement – to integrate health considerations into business processes to help enhance productivity and individual capability and developing and implementing OH policies, standards and procedures to nationally accepted standards which reflect best practice and communicate these to appropriate personnel.

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you will collaborate with business managers, HR, and employees across the organisation.

Externally, you will collaborate with external health care providers as appropriate regarding individuals’ fitness to work/return to work.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:

  • Are a Registered General Nurse, with a degree in Occupational Health Nursing/NMC specialist practitioner status.
  • Have post registration experience, including experience in an Occupational Health environment.
  • Have knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and can demonstrate a sound knowledge of clinical health issues.
  • Are knowledgeable about broader business issues and able to think strategically as to how OH can add value to the Company.
  • Possess strong project management skills, are IT literate and can demonstrate a pragmatic, insightful approach to problem solving.
  • Hold a Current, Full UK driving licence.
