One day you might be leading a creative design session, the next you could be discussing print specifications with a supplier, and later meeting with the Supply Chain team to finalise production plans. The diverse nature of this role ensures no two days are alike, with a constant focus on new product development (NPD). In addition to managing your own NPD projects, you'll lead and mentor a team of NPD Project Managers.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, professional development, and mentorship to the NPD Project Managers
- Work with Marketing to deliver new products on time to the correct costs and standards
- Create and manage technical development timelines
- Co-ordinate operational aspects of NPD projects through management of cross functional teams
- Communicate status of all live projects across the business through Product and Gateway meetings
- Carry out project risk reviews and manage complexity in new developments
- Assist buyers in preparation of tender documents and participate in supplier selection
- Participate in ongoing supplier assessments (inc. development feedback)
- Supply information required for production and quality documentation
- Explore and introduce innovation and new technologies
- Work with Operations to deliver new technology into production
- Manage artwork development and approval process
- Ensure Management and coordination with QC / Compliance Depts on all legal requirements (REACH etc) and that these requirements are delivered across all new packaging and POSM elements
- Prepare and maintain project related ISO documentation
- Ensure all products are developed in accordance with luxury and visual perfection standards.
Profile
Professional/Technical Experience:
- Expertise in packaging materials, (relevant degree or industrial experience)
- Experience working with dry goods component suppliers
- Experience of working with Creative agencies and Marketing professionals
- Knowledge of sustainable packaging opportunities
- Proven project management, demonstrated or qualification (eg Prince 2 Qualified)
- Commercially aware (Business experience)
- Negotiation skills
- Knowledge of legal and mandatory requirements for packaging materials (eg REACH Regulations)
- People Manager (demonstrated) and recognised Management training.
