• The Absolut Group, the brand owner of our global white spirits portfolio, whose Gin brand unit and Business Acceleration team sit in London.

We are an organisation of 2,000 employees in the UK, headquartered in London, in a brand-new office designed with sustainability, ‘conviviality’ and collaboration in mind. We also have offices in Scotland and various distilleries and production sites across the UK from Plymouth to London to Speyside.

Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.
The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or Health & Safety Director bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

The Health & Safety team support our 28 sites across the UK including 6 Higher Tier and 6 Lower Tier CoMAH sites, offices with over 2000 people and a significant contractor base. They are responsible for ensuring compliance and driving a proactive and interdependent health and safety culture.

Your unique contribution

The Health & Safety Director will be accountable for health and safety legal compliance and for the design and delivery of the Health & Safety roadmap across all Chivas Brothers sites within the UK.

You will have six main areas of responsibility:
1. Strategic Leadership – to lead the transformation of our approach to health and safety leadership, culture and performance by creating and executing a strategic health and safety plan aligned with organizational
objectives that establishes Chivas Brothers in a leadership position in health and safety.

2. Health and Safety Culture & Competence – to provide inspirational engagement to gain support to deliver a proactive and interdependent health and safety culture throughout the organization, including
developing initiatives to engage employees at all levels, encouraging ownership, accountability and responsibility for health and safety. You will provide an expert and competent service to the company via your team to support the delivery of the health and safety transformation and to ensure health and safety compliance as well as advising top management of any significant health and safety risks that could affect
the health and safety of our employees or our licence to operate.

3. Regulatory Compliance – to proactively research, understand and interpret the changing regulatory framework, new legislation, industry standards to ensure the company stays ahead of and complies. You
will also ensure that there are appropriate systems, processes, procedures, audits and monitoring in place to ensure that compliance with all relevant health and safety requirements is being delivered.

4. Health and Safety Continuous Improvement – to lead the development of our continuous improvement culture working with existing and new processes and tools that drive Health & Safety performance,
embedding Health & Safety requirements through all aspects of the Continuous Improvement processes ensuring the H&S agenda is front of mind in all aspects of operating.

5. Training, Communication & Collaboration – to design and deliver comprehensive and competent health and safety training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring there are appropriate controls in place
to ensure competence is maintained. You will also design and deliver a communications strategy that is highly engaging and leads to a cultural change in behaviour in relation to health and safety at all levels within the organisation, ensuring first class collaboration with employees, leadership and top management to enable effective delivery of the health and safety agenda. You will be responsible for ensuring high
quality relationships are maintained with our key external stakeholders e.g., HSE, SEPA, trade associations, emergency services and for representing the company on appropriate trade bodies and working
groups.

6. Incident Management – to provide an expert service in incident management and root cause analysis, supporting and ensuring the timely and thorough reporting and investigation of incidents, the
identification of corrective actions and the monitoring and reporting to completion. You will provide an expert service to support the company in the event of a serious accident or crisis management situation and
ensure that on access control, site incident response capabilities are in place to the required standard and routinely tested.

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you will collaborate with all departments across the organisation at all levels, including Manufacturing, Production, Finance and HR.

Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, suppliers, vendors, regulatory organisations and trade bodies to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard and that the organisation is well represented.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:
• Have a degree or similar level education in a relevant discipline and / or a professional Health & Safety Qualification.
• Are a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
• Have Lead Auditor training and / or experience.
• Have significant experience in Health & Safety specialist leadership with practical experience in relevant area(s) and experience working at a Senior level.
• Have thorough and wide-ranging expert knowledge of Health & Safety statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to the Scotch Whisky Industry including high hazard experience.
