Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered.  In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

The Manufacturing Supply Chain team are based in Glasgow and Dumbarton and oversee all aspects of our supply chain including production & material planning, bill of materials management, demand planning, logistics, direct sourcing, and customer service.

Your unique contribution

The Supply Planning Manager will lead a team of Production Planners & Schedulers to create and manage both the short- & medium-term production plans, along with the accountability to execute these plans maintaining an optimised stock holding of finished goods and delivering excellent customer fulfilment levels.

You will have four main areas of responsibility:

  • Team Leadership – to motivate, lead and develop the team of production planners & schedulers, ensuring that they have clear objectives & understand how they contribute to the overall Supply Chain Strategy.  You will embody a continuous improvement attitude & lead the team by example.
  • Planning & Processes – to develop the supply plan according to demand over both short, medium & the long term and deliver a monthly Supply Review looking out to the next rolling quarter.  You will support the Strategic Planning process through scenario and contingency plans and will lead, improve & imbed our S&OE processes.
  • Capacity & Inventory – to manage manufacturing capacity utilisation, with a clear understanding of all constraints.  You will also manage finished goods inventory by identifying and maintaining the correct levels of safety and cycle stock.
  • Metrics – to be accountable for Volume Fill (OTIF) and Schedule Stability/Adherence, you will also have indirect responsibility for the cost per case metric due to the influence you will have on the manufacturing patterns.

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you will collaborate with the wider Supply Chain team as well as other areas of Manufacturing and Finance.

Externally, you will collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:

  • Are a strong people leader, with the ability to drive team performance and influence at all levels.
  • Have previous supply chain experience within the FMCG sector with a high level of understanding of the end-to-end Supply Chain Planning processes, including material flows.
  • Have detailed knowledge of supply planning and an understanding of supply planning tools such as ERP, MRP, DRP.
  • Are knowledgeable in IBP/ S&OP / S&OE processes & best practice.
  • Have an understanding of manufacturing processes and constraints, as well as product and material master data.
  • Are highly IT literate with strong knowledge of ERP and Planning systems, as well as Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI skills.
